Fall in Camden Maine

Camden Maine is a quaint little town located on the coast of Maine.  It has the Atlantic Ocean on one side and mountains on the other.  Follow Route 1 north about six hours and you are in Camden.  It is along ride but the drive along Route 1 through all of the coastal towns is worth the six hours.  I try to get there at least once a year.  I was introduced to Camden back in the late 80’s and it really has not changed since I first traveled there.
The center of town has lots of restaurants that back up to the water front, lots of shops to explore, various boating venues, hiking/biking trails, a vineyard where you can walk in the grape fields, antiquing, fishing and skiing.  Whatever you enjoy doing Camden and the surrounding towns have got what you are looking for.  I really enjoy outdoor activities so this is the perfect place for me to get away and relax.
One of my favorite things to do is hike or sometimes drive to the top of Mt. Battie at Camden Hills State Park.  The summit is 800 feet above sea level and offers magnificent views of Camden Harbor and Penobscot Bay.  Once at the summit you can climb the tower to the top as you see here in my photos.  Back in town there is a great town green with park benches to sit on and watch the: water falls cascading down into the bay, ocean views and boaters on the bay.  On a nice day it is a good place to have a picnic lunch and read.

  1. Frank, these are lovely pictures! My dad lives in Standish, Maine and these pictures truly capture the beauty of the state. I am inspired to follow your pictures and see these sights for myself! Absolutely beautiful photography, lovely narrative, and inspirational.
